The Grainery is passionate about supporting those who have travelled from Australia to different parts of the world to spread the Kingdom of God. We currently provide financial and prayer support to the following families and individuals.

John & Kay Hodge

MINISTRY
Seek Peace

MINISTRY ROLE
Responding to Jesus’ call to serve, John and Kay worked with a Christian ministry called CFaith Ministries (started by John’s parents Kent & Ruth Hodge) in northern Nigeria from 2016-2020. In 2021, John and Kay launched Seek Peace to support organisations like CFaith Ministries in Christian peacebuilding efforts in the areas of research, design, evaluation, advocacy, fundraising, and sustainability. They are currently working with 6 computer centres set up in known hotspots for religious and ethnic violence in northern Nigeria.

John and Kay are ordained pastors and are currently working towards their Master’s. John, in Peacebuilding and Reconciliation and Kay in Sustainable Development.

MINISTRY IN DETAIL
Seek Peace works with grassroots Christian peacebuilding initiatives in Nigeria and West Africa. Our experience and specialty are in peacebuilding and reconciliation practices, particularly at the intersection of Christian mission and sustainable development. We launched in 2021 and we continue to partner with our long-term ministry partners CFM (who we served with for nearly five years prior), with six youth computer training centres each established in known violent hotspots. In 2022 we are looking to expand our partners into supporting other Christian ministries in this way. Due to the effects of COVID-19 and the needs of our growing family life, we are currently based out of the UK.

“We believe the Church has a mandate and a rich tradition of seeking peace in ethnically and religiously divided communities and bringing hope and healing in the name of Jesus.” John and Kay Hodge

PRAYER POINTS | MARCH 2026

Global partnerships & local leadership – Give thanks for five partner projects across Nigeria, Kenya, Lebanon, Ghana and the UK, led by local Christian leaders pursuing justice, truth, forgiveness and peace. Pray for their strength, wisdom and protection in challenging contexts.

Youth in conflict settings – This month’s focus has been supporting young people impacted by violence, especially in Brixton (London) and Lebanon. Pray for deeper understanding of what true peace looks like (with God, others, self and community), and for lasting transformation in the lives of these young people.

Funding & provision – We are applying for grants, particularly to support youth peacebuilding work in Nigeria across religious divides. Pray for favour with funders and governments, and that long-term peacebuilding work would be prioritised and resourced.

Encouragement in mission (praise point) – Our Lebanon partners shared that they no longer feel alone, and that support in research and tracking has strengthened their impact. Give thanks for this “Barnabas” role of encouragement, and pray we continue to empower frontline leaders.

Family, growth & future plans – Pray for our family as we adjust to a new season, especially for the kids at school. Pray for our Christmas Appeal to reach its target, and give thanks for a new staff member joining next year to help grow funding and scale this work.

MINISTRY ROLE
Communication & Mobilisation Team Leader (Pete), Discipleship Training School Program Co-Leader (Rahel)

MINISTRY IN DETAIL
YWAM Amsterdam is an urban community of followers of Jesus. They strive to know God better and to make Him known in Amsterdam and across the world, through a diverse group of teams and training programmes.

With over 40 years of innovation in ministry, YWAM Amsterdam continues to be a birthplace for new initiatives to reach the world with the love of Jesus.

YWAM Amsterdam’s vision is to see the unified body of Christ in the Netherlands and Europe; commissioned to mobilise generations and disciple Nations. Training young people to love Jesus and share Him with others.

PRAYER POINTS
Rahel is launching a new Europe-focussed Discipleship Training School in April 2021, so prayers for preparation, staff, team training, building the European network, and for future students.

Pete’s team is growing, and doors are opening to reach out and partner with churches, so thanks to God for this favour, and continued prayer for the growth of the ministry.

Pete is working with a new team to launch a cafe to share Jesus with people in the Red Light District, so please pray for guidance and the right location for the cafe.

Please pray for the Red Light District, as this was closed for months during COVID, and YWAM are partnering with other organisations to help transition women out of prostitution and equip them with skills such as those for the hospitality industry.

Brent & Heather Madsen

MINISTRY NAME
YWAM Mazatlan, Mexico

MINISTRY ROLE
Base Directors – overseeing all operations of the Ministry in Mazatlan, including managing 100 staff

MINISTRY IN DETAIL
Youth With A Mission (YWAM) is a global movement of Christians from many cultures, age groups, and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world. They are passionate about mobilising young people into missions; combining training, local and world-wide outreach, and mercy ministries.

YWAM Mazatlan’s passion is to serve and love both locally and globally, and to be agents of change in our society. Their campus trains students in a multitude of programs and courses, equipping them to use their individual callings to bring the Gospel across the globe.

PRAYER POINTS | MARCH 2026

Family & season of transition – We are doing well overall, though it’s been a stretching season with renovating our new home. We moved into our new home, fulfilling a sense of God’s leading to be closer to YWAM Mazatlán. Our children are doing well – please pray especially for our daughter Nicki as we continue to pray for her to fall pregnant.

Evolving leadership roles – Brent is focusing more on campus expansion, development and donor engagement, while Heather oversees staff care, onboarding and community culture. Pray for wisdom, energy and favour as we step into these broader leadership responsibilities.

Leadership transition & growth – Over the next year, we are seeking to raise and transition new leaders to oversee the Mazatlán campus, allowing us to focus on executive leadership across two campuses. Pray for the right leaders to emerge and for a strong, sustainable leadership bench.

Provision, opportunities & milestones (prayer + praise) – Praise God for a successful fundraising event for campus expansion and for appointing new Elders to support leadership transition. Pray for Micah to be matched into a US hospital internship, for continued growth of YWAM Mazatlán, and for our new home to be a place of hospitality, mentoring and community.

Impact & multiplication (Praise Story) – Our medical ship is now reaching isolated communities along the Mexican coast. Recently, we met a nurse who had trained with us years ago and is now serving her own community alongside the ship. Give thanks for this powerful example of multiplication – that the vision is not just a ship, but a movement growing in the lives of young people across Mexico.
